Sunday Summary - Ticking Along
Time keeps a tickin'
Well, I am managing to send out the second newsletter in what seems to have been an extraordinarily long and unproductive week.
The week has felt long because training has been tiring. Even if there hasn’t been much training, my body isn’t used to it yet. I’m at the stage where Garmin recommends a run and as soon as I complete it, Garmin tells me my training is unproductive!

On the work front, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to extract myself from a position at a startup to concentrate on ultramarathon.life. I can’t leave the startup in the lurch, even if I’m not getting paid, so that’s taken away time I wanted to commit to the website.
Training Summary
With four runs and a strength training session completed, training is taking shape. Three of the four were only 5 km jogs, so there’s still a long way to go, but consistency is key.
My week ended with a 90-minute run, and I definitely don’t feel as bad as I did after the Ho Tay run at the start of the month. (Thankfully!)
My body has a few little aches, and next week will see me up the training another notch, before dropping back down for a slightly lighter week to end the month. The plan for the week ahead is to exercise Monday through Saturday and have Sunday off.
The Week Ahead…
Next week should start with some of the tasks that I was meant to have completed last week.
It turns out that I couldn’t set up a Vimeo account, because video uploads for free accounts are so restricted that we’d need to pay. But the big task from last week was building a regular training practice, and that seems to be coming along.
It’s more of the same this week, get better at filming myself, do more training, and start finding out what works and what doesn’t. I recorded some footage of me running around Hanoi today; hopefully, some will be suitable for another YouTube video.
In Case You Missed It…
Here’s the short video uploaded this week. The footage is from running around Ninh Binh in January 2024 - it’s taken over a year to get the footage sorted and edited down. All going well, all the running videos I make will be up on the channel much quicker in the future.
Anyway, I’ve left it late again… it’s technically after midnight, so it's already next week. And I need my sleep, so…
Thank you for reading and for your support.
That’s all folks.
