Sunday Summary - Another Week, Another Newsletter
And another little ache and another little pain...
And yes, I have just earwormed myself with Another Girl, Another Planet by The Only Ones. It’s already late here, and I’m about to dive into some late 70s punk and new-wave–London Calling, Teenage Kicks, Ever Fallen In Love, Turning Japanese, and of course Jilted John (because Gordon is a moron)
Perhaps I should have a This Week I Have Mostly Been Listening To section in this newsletter.
Training Summary
It’s been a good week for training as far as the distance goes - 58 km of mostly very slow jogging around Hanoi. My Garmin says I’m just maintaining my fitness with these last few slow runs. I’m not convinced by that. Two strength training workouts, five yoga sessions and seven runs have to have counted for something.
Unfortunately, one thing they have counted for is a rather disconcerting niggle in my right shin above the ankle. I’d hoped the yoga would prevent any issues, but here I am, sat down with a couple of little ones. Most of them are nothing to worry about, but the shin thing is something that might need some rest or a bit of TLC.
The Week Ahead…
Next week I’ll be keeping up with the slow mileage. I’m not sure I’ll go beyond this week’s distance; I’ll be happy to more or less maintain the distance and hope that my niggles go away and my performance picks up.
I’m missing my video editor this week, so one of the plans for the week is to make my own video, which will be its own little mini-adventure.
In Case You Missed It…
I wrote two articles this week, a quick roadmap of what I’m hoping to achieve in the next few months, and an article looking back at an ultramarathon that I’ve done 4 times so far called Escape from Meriden.
And here’s a video of me running around Hanoi at night:
Once again, it’s a late one here, and I’m quite tired, so thank you for reading and for your support.
Take it easy,
Phill
