🐌 Slow Progress Is Better Than No Progress
Another week, another 100 kilometres, another argument with ChatGPT.
Hofstadter's law states that it always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's law. And that’s how everything feels like it has been going over the last few weeks. Training takes longer than I plan, recovering from training takes longer than I’d hope and work always takes longer and throws up more than I’d expected. And another thing I’ve definitely found is that asking ChatGPT to provide some quick answers also takes much longer than just finding the answers myself. Still, progress is being made, and slow progress is better than no progress.

🚂 Training Summary
Another week, and it feels like another disappointing set of runs. I’m always just a little bit short of where I want to be. And I realise it’s crazy to think like this. The week has gone how it’s gone, and I can’t change it. And even if I was hoping for 160+ kilometres under my feet, “falling short” with a mere 130 isn’t too bad.
☀️ Photo from the Road
Not a photo, but a screenshot from ChatGPT. I had a rather frustrating time testing out whether ChatGPT could help me plan a route through Japan.

🗓️ This Week I Have Mostly Been…
🎵 Listening to: Apeman - The Kinks
📚 Reading: A Passion for Japan - John Rucynski. Thirty long-term residents of Japan detail their experiences of life in Japan.
🎥 Watching: I’ve been watching a bit of Ted Lasso while I still have Apple TV.
📺 In Case You Missed It…
I got some new shoes…
🚀 Next Up
The video of me running around Sapa in Vietnam should hopefully be on YouTube tomorrow. After that, I’m seeing if I can build to that 100-mile week over the next few days, before we head off to Laos and China for some more run-cations.
🏁 Finish Line
That’s all there is for this week. Thank you for reading and for all your support.
Take it easy,
